The collection also documents his career as a municipal planning director in Michigan and Ohio, and his work with the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) in California. James H. (Jim) Hickey (1927-2017) began his career in 1952 as the first Planning Director for Oak Park, Michigan (1952-55). In 1955, he became chief administrative planner for Springfield-Clark County Regional Planning Commission in Ohio, followed by becoming Township planner for Southfield, Michigan in 1956. In 1958, he moved back to Ohio, where he worked as Regional Planning Director for the Stark County Regional Planning Commission in Canton from 1958-1964.
