Correspondence, newspaper clippings, and materials relating to the Committee for Chol Soo Leeâ€™s Legal Defense. Chol Soo Lee, a Korean immigrant, was wrongfully convicted of a San Francisco Chinatown murder in 1973. Chol Soo Lee, who was at San Quentin Prison awaiting a death penalty sentence, was acquitted in a second trial. KW Lee, a journalist, gained national recognition for his investigation into the wrongful conviction of Chol Soo Lee. His articles ultimately led to Chol Soo Leeâ€™s retrial and full acquittal. Dr. Luke and Grace Kim were instrumental in the Committee for Chol Soo Leeâ€™s Legal Defense.
