Bruce provides in-depth reference support and collection services to the Sacramento Campus. He is an experienced medical librarian with expertise in online searching, collection development, and electronic resources. He has experience in many aspects of library work, although all related to medical libraries. Currently he is the liaison to the School of Nursing and the UC Davis Hospital’s Patient Care Services Department.

Embase is a biomedical and pharmacological database containing bibliographic records with citations, abstracts and indexing derived from biomedical articles in peer reviewed journals, and is especially strong in its coverage of drug and pharmaceutical research and conference abstracts.Embase contains over 22 million records spanning 1974-present, with over 1 million records added annually. Each record contains the full bibliographic citation, indexing terms, and codes; and 80% of all citations in Embase include author-written abstracts. The Embase journal collection is international with over 7,500 active peer-reviewed journals more than 90 countries. All MEDLINE records produced by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) are included, as well as over 5 million records not covered in MEDLINE. Broad biomedical scope covering the following areas:

Pure Experts Research Profile for UC Davis The Pure Experts Research Profiles for UC Davis are available at https://ucdavis.pure.elsevier.com/. The following description is from the Pure Experts product announcement: “Expert Profiler: helps institutions better expose their research history and capabilities by aggregating the ‘conceptual fingerprints’ of existing published papers. By using historic publishing and citation data to expose unique relationships among people and institutions, Expert Profiler provides senior decision makers with transparency while researchers can use it to identify others with whom to collaborate.” This resource has had several name changes--it was originally Collexis, then SciVal, and is now Pure Experts. UC Davis calls its webpage UC Davis Researchprofiles. Elsevier later took the name SciVal and created a new product with that name.
