As the Social and Cultural Studies Librarian, Dr. Michalski is one of the librarians in the Researcher Services Department at UC Davis Library responsible for making sure the UC Davis Library serves the research and teaching mission of the University. He works with students, graduate students, faculty, the staff and the public and helps build and maintain the extensive research collections available at UC Davis. He holds virtual office hours for research consultations for students, graduates and faculty. He is also available to teach information and research skills classes in the humanities and social sciences. He has taught hundreds of such sessions over the years and met with thousands of students and faculty, letting them know what the UC Davis Library has to offer, trading search strategies, and always learning more about what students, faculty and researchers are working on at UC Davis.
Dr. Michalski’s own research interests include: critical theory, sociology of consumer society, corporate culture, aesthetics, urban studies, ethnography and documentary poetics, and food and culture studies.
