Using a range of print and electronic resources from local libraries to international organizations, Karen processes interlibrary loan requests from UCD library patrons as support for their education and research.
Karen has worked a variety of jobs ranging from lifeguard to kitchen cook to radio announcer which provides an excellent foundation for a career in Information Sciences.
She first started working in a library as a page shelving books and eventually earned a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.
In her current job, she enjoys the perpetual challenge of employing a multitude of research tools in a productive and timely manner.
Helping patrons successfully use the resources available to them provides Karen with a continuous education in effective communication.
For Karen, the bonus of working in libraries is easy access to her favorite reading material: comic books, graphic novels and manga.
