Contact a Librarian listed below to arrange a library instruction session for your class or group. Classes can be customized to cover scientific research or assignments, address group research needs, or cover more general topics. Existing classes are mentioned below; others can be created.

NIH Public Access Policy - the basics and beyond

This seminar is intended for NIH-funded investigators, as well as their co-authors and delegates, grant support staff, and scholars. We will review the process of how to ensure that the full-text manuscripts resulting from your NIH-supported research are publicly available on PubMed Central. The training will cover the following topics:

  • the basics of the NIH PAP
  • methods of tracking publications that cite a specific grant
  • how to use My NCBI to add, modify and review awards
  • how to add a delegate to your My NCBI account
  • how to use the NIH Manuscript Submission (NIHMS) System to upload and approve manuscripts
  • troubleshooting advice

Public Health Expert Searcher

Join us for this hands-on workshop and learn tricks for identifying hard-to-find resources in public health. After exploring PubMed Special Queries and MeSH, will move onto other relevant library databases, and publicly accessible resources. If you have a laptop, please bring it to class. Veterinary Medicine: Finding and Managing the Literature

EndNote Getting Started @ Carlson Health Sciences Library

Working on a paper or research project? Discover how EndNote citation management software can help collect, store, and organize your research literature, and then add them to your own papers or publications using the right style for the occasion. EndNote can also download many article PDFs for you, and lets you add personal notes right on those PDFs. This class is intended for beginning EndNote users. Held at Carlson, Davis campus.
