Head of Collection Strategies
This position has primary responsibility for the collection development budget ($8.4M), represents UC Davis for system-wide licensing decisions, and leads a team of three collection strategists as well as the collection maintenance unit. This position will also take the lead in cultivating a culture of assessment for library collections, broadening our concept of library collections to include research data and born-digital resources, and advocacy for open access and open scholarship. Metadata Strategy Specialist
This position’s chief objective is to serve as a work lead for local metadata initiatives and assist the Unit Head in the Metadata Creation Unit, which is responsible for ensuring the access of library resources in all formats. Metadata Librarian
This position will take a strategic role in leading the library into a world of Linked Data in production, reconceiving metadata creation and attendant workflows (such as Name Authority Cooperative Program (NACO) authority work, metadata enrichment, and data cleanup projects) to take advantage of emerging opportunities in metadata sharing. The UC Davis Library has implemented cataloging in BIBFRAME for several types of materials and is committed to being an early adopter of Linked Data in all aspects of its metadata production and management.
