Southern Pacific Station at Maddock, Sutter Basin, California, Dec. 18, 1920.

New exhibit: Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad

Special Collections is pleased to present a new exhibit, All Aboard: Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad. Learn how the railroad influenced the selection of Davis as the home of the University Farm (now UC Davis), the growth of California agriculture, and the promotion of the state to tourists and settlers. See a selection of railroad images from the Eastman’s Originals Collection. View a 1936 film containing footage of workers packing pears into lug boxes and the boxes being loaded onto the Pacific Fruit Express.

Visitors are welcome to take home a free souvenir postcard of the Southern Pacific Depot (Davis train station) as it appeared in 1944.
