Picnic Day 2006: Shields Library Open House

Saturday, April 22
11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Picnic Day is the largest student-run event in the United States and is the annual Open House for the University of California, Davis. This hallmark event has been designed to showcase and celebrate the richness of campus life, the diverse achievements of UCD students, staff and faculty to provide a day of education, information and entertainment to all who attend.

This year Shields Library will host a Picnic Day Open House from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Come and enjoy a self-guided tour of the Library, including a viewing of the art deco-styled Main Reading Room and extensive art on display.

Special Collections will have an exhibit in the main lobby entitled "Davisville: an Ideal Spot for a University Farm" featuring photographs, diary entries, letters, legal documents and newspaper clippings that describe the people and chronology of the selection of Davisville as the site for the University Farm.

Government Information & Maps will have an exhibit in the main lobby featuring maps of the UC Davis campus covering its history over the last century.
