Possible UC Boycott of Nature Journals
UC's Reshaping Scholarly Communication (http://osc.universityofcalifornia.edu/) carries the Public Statement from the Nature Publishing Group and the response from the University of California.
June 9, 2010:
UC faculty members and researchers are considering a possible boycott of the Nature Publishing Group (NPG) journals. UC Libraries will face an unprecedented 400% increase in the cost to license access to 67 Nature journals for the calendar year, 2011. This increase is the equivalent of over $1 million per year. An informational update (https://www.lib.ucdavis.edu/ul/news/items/nature-faculty-letter.pdf)PDF is presented for your review. Please direct comments and concerns to Steven Inchcoombe, managing director of NPG, or other members of the executive committee at email@example.com. In addition, we would appreciate receiving a copy of your correspondence with any member of the Nature Publishing Group's executive committee.
Please send copies of your correspondence to either your librarian subject specialist (https://www.lib.ucdavis.edu/ul/about/directories/subjspec.php) or Gail Yokote, Acting Co-University Librarian, firstname.lastname@example.org. Also, we welcome additional questions and concerns.
