CSA Offers New Look To 23 Electronic Databases

23 Electronic Databases to Change Search Interface as CSA introduces ILLUMINA

Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (CSA) will introduce the ILLUMINA search interface on Monday, January 31, 2005. Electronic Databases such as PsycINFO, Sociological Abstracts, ERIC, GEOREF, Environmental Sciences and Pollution Management, as well as a host of other electronic databases in the Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Social Sciences and Humanities will be affected. The new ILLUMINA search interface will replace the existing one, but this change will not affect the contents of the CSA databases. The new ILLUMINA interface instead offers many improvements, including easier and more efficient navigation.

UC Davis, Faculty, Staff and Students can preview the new search screen today, by looking for the "ILLUMINA" link when using one of the CSA electronic databases. Users can also find help and support in the form of a Quick Reference Card and Online Tutorials within the CSA help site.

The Library is offering classes on the new ILLUMINA interface on:

  • January 20th, 1:10 - 2:30 PM, in the Library Instruction Lab, in Shields Library.
  • February 9th, 2:10 - 3:30PM, in the Library Instruction Room on the 2nd Floor of Shields Library.

While these classes will focus on social science library research, all library users are welcome.

More information and assistance in making the transitions can be found at any UC Davis University Library reference desk or by emailing a reference librarian.
