Pacific Film Archive Library & Study Center (CineFiles) (

CineFiles contains scanned images of reviews, press kits, festival and showcase program notes, newspaper articles, and other documents from the PFA Library's extensive collection covering world cinema, past and present.

CineFiles currently includes documents on the films of more than 150 major international directors, materials describing silent Soviet cinema, and PFA's unique collection of exhibitor manuals, among other documents.

Film Literature Index (
Indexes 150 film and television periodicals from 30 countries cover-to-cover; 200 others selectively for articles on film and television. The freely available online version covers 1976-2001 only, while the print version covers the early 1970s and years after 2001.

IIPA Full Text draws content from more than 210 scholarly and popular performing arts periodicals, and also indexes a variety of documents such as biographical profiles, conference papers, obituaries, interviews, discographies, reviews and events. Provides indexing of 115,000 films and biographical information for almost 57,000 personalities. FII also includes brief bibliographies and coverage of international film awards, as well as searchable plot summaries and full cast and crew lists.


Digital Sanborn maps [via ProQuest]. ( [Restricted] VPN
Author: ProQuest Information and Learning
Sanborn fire insurance maps, created to assist fire insurance companies assess risk, are large-scale community plans drawn at a scale of 50 feet to one inch. The maps give street names, street and sidewalk widths, property boundaries, and house and block numbers. Sanborn maps also contain data about construction details, building use and the utilities and transportation infrastructure that supported the community overall. Academic Search Complete (ASC) provides coverage of multidisciplinary, full-text academic journals to support scholarly research in all areas of the arts, humanities and the social, life and physical sciences. The database includes the full-text articles from 9,100 journals, with an additional 13,690 journals indexed and abstracted. Searches can be restricted to peer-reviewed articles.

Google Scholar (
Google Scholar searches for scholarly literature on the web, including "peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports..from a variety of academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities." Google Scholar also analyzes and extracts citations from online documents, so your search results may include citations to older works that are not online. Results are ordered by relevancy. Often articles cited in Google Scholar results are available to UC Davis users through electronic journal and database subscriptions that the Library has licensed and paid for. To assist you in locating print and electronic versions of cited content, the University of California has arranged UC-eLinks in Google Scholar. After setting up UC-eLinks, click on the linked "UC-elinks" phrase, which will open a window from which you can get the full-text, check the library catalog to see if we own a book or journal, or Request an article we don't own.
